Americans have become so deeply divided along ideological lines that people view opposing parties as an existential threat. As Church Militant's Trey Blanton reports, a poll released last week says most Americans want to dissolve the nation.
During the Lincoln-Douglas debates, Abraham Lincoln famously said, "A house divided against itself cannot stand. This government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free."
Over 150 years after the American Civil War, more than half of Trump voters and 41% of Biden voters want to divide the nation in two. Furthermore, overwhelming majorities in both parties view the ideology of the other as "presenting a clear and present danger to American democracy."
Many Texans ponder the possibility of becoming an independent nation again, and state representative Kyle Biedermann has filed a bill to give Texans a vote to consider that very question. Lieutenant Colonel Allen West is challenging Texas governor Greg Abbott in the Republican primary and has identified who has violated America's integrity as a republic.
Lt. Col. Allen West: "The people that are seceding from the Union are those people that are violating our election laws, violating our Constitution."
West has not openly supported secession but has encouraged law-abiding states to join together to more effectively protect the rights of their citizens. The human rights battle of today is the right of children in the womb to be protected from a hypersexualized culture promulgated by the Left.
So-called women's marches this weekend claim to fight for women but treat pro-life women almost as violently as they do the preborn. Increasing federal power has resulted in a country where people cannot have a state or community in line with their beliefs.
Large numbers of those polled also support censoring the free speech of members of the opposing party.
