Democrats are undermining safety for Americans as anti-cop hate is violently spreading. Police officers are leaving their jobs in record numbers out of concern for persecution from the communities they swore to protect.
Condemnation by leftist politicians and celebrities are perpetuating riots and other violent crimes.
Fox News contributor Deroy Murdock:
The criminals see this, and they move forward. And you're seeing homicide rates shooting up in Los Angeles and Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle and Portland. The cities that have defunded police have seen homicides shoot through the roof. So we're talking about dead bodies here, not just physical damage, broken windows [and] graffiti.
New York City, for 2020, saw a 75% increase in officers leaving the department, with 2,600 officers quitting and over 2,700 more officers retiring. That same year New York City saw 437 homicides, a 40% increase from 2019.
With fewer officers on the street in 2021, most crimes are increasing from 2020 at an alarming rate.
Philadelphia, another Democrat-run city, is suffering a recruiting crisis. The city has 268 vacancies to fill — and counting — as more officers are leaving. The City of Brotherly Love is now seeing a 33% increase in homicides this year compared to this time in 2020.
Liberal Portland, Oregon is also reeling from the effect of police defunding.
Radio host Jason Rantz:
It's rather remarkable that when you cut the gun violence reduction team and you see an increase in gun violence people are like, "Who could have seen this coming? Literally anyone with two functioning brain cells." And, unfortunately, what's going on here is you have a city and a region being held hostage by radicals within the BLM movement and Antifa members.
Rather than spend money to improve communities, Black Lives Matter and its allies are sowing destruction.
Rantz: "And they're doing this — they're defunding the police — because they claim that they believe black lives matter. Unfortunately, however, the shooting victims — half of them were black people. So you're actually hurting the very community that you claim you want to support and defend."
When experienced men and women are driven from their jobs, the outcome to meet the rising demand can only be to replace them with unqualified people.
