Dolan 2.0

Phoenix declining?

August 5, 2022  0

The diocese of Phoenix, Arizona, has a new bishop — and he is already setting his sights on so-called hateful Catholic media.

Church Militant's Aidan O'Connor takes a closer look at Bp. John Dolan and his colorful past.

Bishop John Dolan was installed as the fifth bishop of Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday, and immediately set to work introducing himself to his new flock.

Bp. John Dolan, diocese of Phoenix: "You're adorable. Yes, you are. Even the jerks."

While talking about love and synodality, Dolan also took a swipe at so-called divisive Catholic media.

Bp. Dolan: "Even within our Church there is such a divide in our social media and television and radio broadcasts, which leads to hatred — Catholic-owned television and radio broadcasts."

Catholic evangelist and cofounder of Virgin Most Powerful Radio Jesse Romero responded to the newly appointed bishop.

Jesse Romero, cofounder, Virgin Most Powerful Radio: "True love is willing the salvation of the sheep in your diocese. How do you will their salvation? By giving them the truth, not by giving them wide parameters."

Dolan's swift rise to the bishopric began in 2016, when the infamous Bp. Robert McElroy chose him to replace a faithful priest as pastor of St. John the Evangelist in San Diego.

Dolan immediately colluded with the parish's openly gay and supposedly married pastoral associate, Aaron Bianco, to transform the community.

While pastor, Dolan booted the Legion of Mary out of the parish, removed a statue of Our Lady from the church and allowed Bianco to lock the daily Rosary group outside church.

Just one year later, McElroy appointed Dolan as auxiliary bishop of San Diego.

A few months in, Dolan hosted a pro-LGBT Mass at St. John the Evangelist to celebrate an errant pro-gay document from the USCCB titled "Always Our Children."

Last year, Dolan signed a letter against denying Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians.

Dolan is replacing Bp. Thomas Olmsted, who marked his tenure by authoring the orthodox exhortation "Into the Breach," denouncing the rotten fruit of the sexual revolution, urging Catholics to vote responsibly and condemning homopredator Theodore McCarrick.

Phoenix is America's fifth largest city, with roughly 1.2 million Catholics in the diocese, which is a large number of souls to lead astray.

Dolan's homosexual sidekick from San Diego, Bianco, has specifically accused Church Militant of committing a "hate crime," a complaint Michigan's attorney general later discredited.
