As the Jan. 6 committee readies itself to publicly take on Donald Trump, there's more to its agenda than meets the eye. Church Militant's Paul Murano looks at what's being discussed among committee members to secure more power for Democrats.
"Never let a good crisis go to waste" were the words of Winston Churchill during World War II. But they could be the motto of today's Jan. 6 committee. This committee will make its case to the American people in prime time tomorrow night.
Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo.: "People must pay attention. People must watch."
Its primary aim, according to critics, is to ensure Donald Trump never again runs for president. But according to reports, it's also maneuvering to secure more power for Democrats.
Part of the hidden agenda is to abolish the Electoral College and to secure so-called voting rights across the nation.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md.: "I've taken the position that the Electoral College is an undemocratic relic of the early Constitution."
Congressman Jamie Raskin of Maryland is leading the charge, claiming presidential elections like the ones in 2000 and 2016 should never happen. These saw the Democratic candidate win the popular vote and the Republican win the White House.
Critics claim, however, federalizing elections will garner much-coveted power for Dems to steer election results. Ironically, one committee member pushing back at Raskin's radical proposals is anti-Trumper Republican congressman Liz Cheney.
Cheney: "The election wasn't stolen."
Cheney represents a small state that would be disadvantaged by an Electoral College rollback.
As the committee maneuvers behind the scenes, Joe Biden will soon have another media circus to distract Americans from his failing socialist policies.
With seven of its nine members Democrats, critics compare the charade of the Jan. 6 committee to the Nazis' move to solidify power in Berlin, when the Reichstag Parliament building burned in 1933.
