Not the Faith’s Fault

US prelate slams German bishops

May 5, 2022  0

TRANSCRIPT

Bishops around the world have been warning their brethren in Germany that they're headed for destruction with the ongoing Synodal Path.

Church Militant's Rodney Pelletier explains the latest no-holds-barred warning by Abp. Samuel Aquila.

Denver's archbishop is again calling out the Synodal Path, saying it "repudiates the Deposit of Faith." In a new letter to Bp. Georg Bätzing, head of the German bishops' conference, Aquila articulates several problems.

He slams the German bishops' supposed efforts to "protect children," and asks, "Why must Catholic teaching on fundamental issues of doctrine and the moral life change because German bishops have failed to teach effectively and govern honestly? The Church's faith did not lead to the clergy abuse scandal!"

He advises the abuse crisis is due, in part, to being attached to the world rather than the gospel. He also attributes the crisis to prelates not taking abuse victims seriously, and to "the failures to form one's heart and mind, after Christ's ... to deny oneself, to take up one's cross and to follow in the steps of Jesus, and to revere the moral law and abide by what the Church teaches."

So far, Bätzing has rejected all warnings, claiming the Synodal Path has the implicit support of Pope Francis. Despite the buzzers and bells of schism sounding loudly, the German bishops are proceeding. And it's looking more and more like what's happening to the Faith there is exactly what they want.

Both Bp. Bätzing and Cdl. Reinhard Marx, the architect of the Synodal Path, have come out in support of sodomy.
