Silence Rewarded

Detroit priests get promoted

June 15, 2022  0

TRANSCRIPT

While a Michigan whistleblower priest has been punished for speaking the truth, other priests who looked the other way have been promoted.

Church Militant's Paul Murano explores the Detroit archdiocese's homo-clerical corruption.

Father Michael Suhy, was canned in November 2020 by Detroit's Abp. Allen Vigneron.

Suhy objected to Vigneron's "selective and arbitrary enforcement of the archdiocese's policies against sexual harassment and abuse," calling it "a cover-up of sodomitical vice being perpetrated by an archbishop's favorite."

Suhy was fired, but the two associate pastors who were at his parish when he was removed have been promoted.

Last year, Fr. David Tomaszycki, was appointed Vigneron's priest secretary.

And another priest, Fr. Timothy Wezner, will become the archdiocese's vice-chancellor pro tem — meaning on a temporary basis — in September.

Joe Balistreri: "I repent of not heeding the warnings of my leaders at the diocese and preparing myself for the attack that eventually came."

The cover-up Suhy alleged centered around Joe Balistreri, the archdiocese's homosexual ex-director of music.

Suhy noted, "Vigneron himself knew about his prominent subordinate's homosexual relationship" and that "he was 'accepting' of it."

Balistreri admitted later on the archdiocese knew all about him, and many employees were not happy about his eventual firing.

When removing Suhy from pastoral duties, the diocese claimed it was because he was overwhelmed with responsibilities and that it was good for his well-being and also for the well-being of the parish.
