First — and most importantly — today is the feast day of St. Michael, the glorious creature who cast Lucifer out of the celestial realm for his arrogance and disobedience. It's why we named this apostolate after him as our patron. In fact, Our Blessed Lord Himself gave us a quick little summary of the immediate aftermath of Michael's devastating defeat of the fallen angels: "I saw Satan fall like lightning from the sky." Indeed!
And on this splendid feast day, we also want to note that St. Michael is certainly welcome to brandish that sword of his once again during tonight's first presidential debate. Short programming note: Remember, Church Militant will be bringing you our very own exclusive pre- and post-debate analysis and commentary right here on the site.
It begins at 8:30 p.m. ET and goes until the debate itself begins at 9. And when the debate concludes at 10:30 p.m. ET, we will be back for a full hour of analysis and recap and expert commentary. There is simply no other media outlet in the entire Catholic world prepared to bring you what you want and need to know as Catholics at this moment in history. So please, join us tonight at ChurchMilitant.com for our full exclusive coverage.
One of the ultimate effects of warring against the divine is this — God puts His enemies to confusion. Rage is the fuel that runs the machinery of the demonic. It always has been. And rage is exactly what we are witnessing right now in the response to the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the nation's Supreme Court.
There is, of course, only one reason for this: Abortion. The sacrament of Satan has never been more in jeopardy than it is right now. No one, of course, knows with absolute certainty how an individual justice might vote on any given case that comes before the court. And pro-lifers have certainly been disappointed multiple times, while the pro-abortion side has never been disappointed.
But the Marxist Left, totally and completely in the grip of the demonic, is truly full of rage at what appears to be an increasing likelihood that abortion may become the legal equivalent of murder, or at least ruled to not be a right under the U.S. Constitution.
Thousand of Masses are being offered up for the good of the nation in these trying times. It's safe to say that millions of Rosaries — scattered across what seem like dozens of different novenas, including ours here at Church Militant — are being prayed.
How the Holy Trinity chooses to answer these pleadings, beggings really, is as yet unknown. But consider, right in the middle of what everyone believed to be an election that could not get more insane, God took the life of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, which put the Marxist Left to confusion.
And yes, it was God who took her life just as it is God and God alone — the Author of life and death — who demands every human life when He and He alone determines the time has arrived. Also noteworthy, of the many offices enjoyed by St. Michael, one is that he is the escort of each soul to the divine judgment.
Saint Michael is the angel of death. He is dispatched by Heaven to bring the soul from this life and present it to Almighty God. Aside from the Immaculate Conception herself, Hell is most terrorized by the very mention of the name of Michael.
It reverberates off the walls of Hell, sounding and banging in the ears of the demons (who, being outside of time, always suffer in the present the agony of Michael's victory over them). It is an everlasting horror to them and one of the greatest humiliations that Lucifer, now Satan, will always endure.
Saint Michael, recall, was a lowly archangel, if you can speak in those terms more suited to earth. Nonetheless, he was a being much further down the angelic hierarchy than Lucifer, who was the "Light Bearer."
His rebellion Michael could not hear, could not tolerate the sound of it in his ears, and as Lucifer shot out his telepathic instant message to the angelic realm to rebel against the Almighty, it was not God who crushed the rebellion — it was Michael and the angels who followed him.
In one of the most stirring passages in all Scripture, we hear: "Then war broke out in Heaven; Michael and his angels battled against the dragon. The dragon and its angels fought back, but they did not prevail and there was no longer any place for them in Heaven" (Revelation 12:7).
Thus was set in motion the war that would play out on earth until the last day. We are now currently in the midst of a fierce battle in that war. The demonic, which utterly controls the Democratic Party, will unleash everything it has to destroy the effort to roll back abortion.
In the white-hot center of the battle is a pro-life, Catholic mother of seven, nominated by a president who has proven himself more Catholic than most Catholics. On the other side, a man who is a fraud when it comes to his Faith, who chooses an anti-Catholic bigot as his running mate.
And when it comes to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where the actual fireworks will begin, two of the Democrats are supposedly Catholic — two senior senators — Dick Durban of Illinois and Patrick Leahy of Vermont. On the GOP side, there is one single Catholic voice: Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina.
It's inconceivable that the subject of Barrett's Catholicism will not come up, and when it does, look for Durbin and Leahy to lead the charge. Of course, it's unlikely that it will come up directly. Rather, it will be "smuggled" in. Famed attorney Alan Dershowitz, while saying recently that her religion, per se, should be off-limits, did say the following question should be asked of Barrett during the hearings:
You do believe that there is a right to life, you believe there is a constitutional right to life, and if there is a constitutional right to life doesn't that mean that New York can't pass an abortion statute — a pro-choice statute — because they would be violating the fetus' right to life? Are you taking abortion away from the states? Are you prepared to do more than just overrule Roe v. Wade, which leaves it to the state, and are you saying there is a constitutional right not to be aborted, and therefore the states have no power?
This is the heart of the matter, and it's beyond interesting that the most important civil-rights issue of our day will be thrust into the spotlight in a Senate confirmation hearing while the U.S. bishops have sat stone-cold silent on this as 60 million children were slaughtered.
And speaking of the U.S. bishops, they are busy circulating a limp-wristed document around calling for "civility" in political discourse. You may hear it pop up in your diocese or parish. Instead of tackling the issues, the ladies in robes and miters, a pack of Karens if there ever was one, want to talk about "tone."
Tone, as a matter of fact, is all they ever want to talk about. Those spiritual deadbeat dads should have come out long ago and said, "Nothing matters in this country except abortion." It is absolutely the quintessential, existential issue of our day, just as slavery was 160 years ago.
Any candidate in favor of this child slaughter should be automatically disqualified from consideration, just as any supporter of Antifa or the KKK should be. But that would tick off their demonic Democratic Party overlords who have no problem with abortion, Antifa or the KKK.
So they will leave Amy — a faithful Catholic mom — to twist in the wind, coming under unbelievable assault for her Faith, which is really what this is all about, no matter how politely and sneakily it might all be packaged. We've been saying it for over two years in the run-up to Campaign 2020: Catholicism itself, how it has been betrayed by the hierarchy in the United States, is standing in the docket this election.
Let us pray and continue to work (because you must do both — faith and works) so that God will hear the cries of the remaining faithful and dispatch the angel of death into the enemy camp and put them to confusion. Please tune in tonight on Church Militant — come to the site itself — and watch our coverage of the debate.
Saint Michael, on this your feast day, cast Satan into Hell.
