With the Amazon Synod right around the corner, things are heating up. The synod will take place from Oct. 6 to Oct. 27.
Although the synod is focused on the Amazon region in South America, the actual synod itself is occurring in Rome, and Church Militant will be there covering it for you.
Many bishops have spoken up in regards to the upcoming synod, and that list of bishops and cardinals who are growing more and more troubled with each new piece of news now includes Cdl. Robert Sarah.
Cardinal Sarah is currently the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
In a recent interview with the National Catholic Register's Ed Penton, his eminence spoke about his new book The Day Is Now Far Spent.
When asked what the primary concern of his book was, Sarah responded, "I suffer so much from seeing the Church torn apart and in great confusion. I suffer so much from seeing the Gospel and Catholic doctrine disregarded, the Eucharist ignored or profaned."
Sarah is emphasizing the real problem with everything in the Church right now is a lack of belief in the Real Presence: "The decline of faith in the Real Presence of Jesus the Eucharist is at the heart of the current crisis of the Church and its decline, especially in the West."
This has multiplied into an enormous number of problems — the promotion of homosexuality by clerics; pro-abortion politicians receiving Our Lord at Mass; gay "married" men being allowed to teach at Catholic universities.
All of these things cause, as Cdl. Sarah tells us, great confusion, and, more importantly, they all result in the Eucharist being ignored and treated as merely a symbol and profaned by the sacrileges committed on a daily basis.
When the cardinal was asked if he still sees reasons for hope in our world, he tells us, "Like the Romans of the fourth century, we see the barbarians take power. But this time, the barbarians are not coming from outside to attack the cities. The barbarians are inside."
His eminence lays out very clearly that the problems we face are unlike anything we have ever seen before, stemming from inside the Church as opposed to historically where attacks came from the outside.
Church Militant has been yelling and shouting this from the rooftops for more than a decade now and is the reason we traveled to the Holy Land and filmed our documentary on the Eucharist.

Cardinal Sarah's words of advice should be taken to heart and put into practice: "Build a bulwark of prayers and sacrifices so that no breach will hurt the beauty of the Catholic priesthood."
We'd also like to take a moment to thank everyone who helped not only with the production of our documentary — but also with everything we do here at Church Militant; that includes donors and Premium subscribers as well as those who purchase our books and videos.
All of you make it possible for us to continue doing what we do. And we all are in this together, fighting for the Faith and for souls.
